TikTok comes under fire and the company is facing a new challenge from the US government.

According to the released report of TikTok in December 30, 2019, the social media platform has announced that :

  • TikTok is a place for creativity and expression.
  •  TikTok aims to give its community the opportunity to better understand the actions it takes on their behalf.
  • TikTok receives requests from governments but is committed to assisting law enforcement in appropriate circumstances while it comes to respect respecting the privacy and rights of its users.
  • TikTok didn’t received any request from china’s government in the first half of 2019 (January 1 – June 30, 2019).
  • TikTok says the most legal and governmental requests came from India (107 requests) then United states (79 requests), with regard to removed or restricted content India remains always on the head.

The report comes as the company attempts to convince US lawmakers it’s not a spying threat, also to earn and maintain users trust not only in the US but around the world, Tiktok is facing potentially a new challenge from the US government after been accused of banning certain content and has been linked to censorship and collection of users data inside the world which could be used for nefarious purposes by the Chinese government( tracking locations and analyze metadata,…), and this is actually the real concern of US Politicians over the app based in another country like china, the communist country.

What are the eventual consequences?

Under Trump’s administration that could mark the end of TikTok in the US and serve as a warning to any Chinese company looking to break into the American market.
