Apple’s chief privacy officer, Jane Horvath, has said at the CES 2020 that the company is actually scanning uploaded photos to iCloud.

In 2019, Apple has already changed its policy in the name of protecting its users’ privacy .

Jane Horvath confirmed that Apple uses special technology called PhotoDNA, which is a hashing system that filters images. The technology is also used by Facebook, Twitter and Google.

that allows automatically scanning photos then reporting sexual abuse of children and the potentially illegal content.

Jane has also added that if such content was found, the relevant accounts violating Apple’s policy should be immediately deleted and users privacy shouldn’t be protected in this case. Jane Horvath said that no one in Apple wants to see such materials on the company’s devices.
