Companies such as Samsung, Huawei, Vivo, Xiaomi, and others haven’t only released 5G-enabled smartphones, but have already managed to divide this new market’s revenues.

In this regard, Huawei managed to ship 6.9 million smartphones last year and occupy 36.9% of the market, while Samsung in 2019 shipped 6.7 million smartphones with 5G support, which is 35.8% of the total.

Although, many companies are already selling fifth-generation smartphones; 5G is still in its early days for Apple and the company isn’t worried about this, according to the company’s CEO Tim Cook.

When asked by the analysts about Apple’s plans to support 5G in future iPhone, he didn’t call a specific date, but confirmed : “With respect to 5G, we’re in the early innings of its deployment on a global basis”.

He added that Apple isn’t in a hurry, and the company has a clear plan. It’s quite normal that different companies have different plans to develop the new market, but at the moment there is no reason to worry about the fact that Apple is somewhere late.

In the US, the coverage of 5G is quite limited. For example, Verizon launched the 5G network only in 31 cities. And the 5G at&T network is launched in just five cities in December.
