The Indian government has announced the blocking of dozens of Chinese applications over the phone, including “Tik Tok”, alleging security concerns over its use.
The Indian Ministry of Information Technology stated that it has decided to block 59 apps due to what it sees that these applications pose a threat to sovereignty and transparency in the country as well as other security concerns.
ByteDance runs the Tik Tok app, which allows users to post short videos. The app have been downloaded more than 2 billion times since April this year.
Local report revealed to HufNews that approximately 305 million of the “Tik Tok” downloads were from India during April alone !
