The social networking site Facebook announced the launch of a new technology based on artificial intelligence technology, and this new technology allows the platform to give much better translations than is currently available, as this new technology does not necessarily depend on the option of translating into English before translating into the desired language.
The translation process from the English language before reaching the language the user wants was essential for the Facebook platform, but the company decided to go to a new stage, where it launched a new mechanism for automatic translation into 100 global languages, which is the mechanism based on artificial intelligence technology, as we have indicated. And it is the first mechanism with this technology and by direct translation from one language to another without going through the English language.
And Facebook said in its statement regarding the launch of the new mechanism that it had gathered 7.5 billion pairs of sentences online, and then Facebook, through its “M2M-100” mechanism, identified and translated these sentences by creating a mathematical representation of the texts to keep the sentences that say the same thing. In two different languages.
The new mechanism will turn the Facebook platform into a reference in online translation and give it precedence in this field over competitors, as Facebook says it provides about 20 billion translations per day on its social networking platform, knowing that the new mechanism is still under development.
